WOW celebrates the final day of the torches’ UK tour!

The Olympic torch traveled down the Thames on the final day of its UK tour and the WOW team were there to greet it as it went past. Stood out in the rain in true British style, with make shift umbrellas (consisting of carrier bags amongst other things) we watched and cheered on the Olympic torch leading a number of small boats down the river heading towards the torches’ final destination, the Olympic Stadium. It was a great sight to see with people coming together and lining the river to cheer on something which helps bring the world together.

We’re pleased to announce the exciting arrival of five new toys :)

The five latest additions to the WOW Toys range are coming to a shop near you soon! That’s Flora, Sammy, Percy, Rosie and Tilly! One of our biggest and most exciting launches for many years has seen both our boy’s and girl’s ranges increase.

We have always seen the potential for creating exciting, cute vehicles for girls and we have continued to do that with Tilly’s Take-off and Rosie’s Royal Ride; the latter fitting nicely into the patriotic feel of the nation which is currently gripping everyone from Land’s End to John O’Groats.

Flora’s Fairy Garden is another of our releases which fits into the girl’s range; this time we have aimed to create the perfect role play set for young girls. Flora’s Fairy Garden is equipped with her very own functioning daisy lift and garden swing, and her pretty design and magical pond with stepping stones is sure to grip the imagination of girls across the globe.

WOW takes Trinity Hospice’s Annual Garden Party fundraising event by storm

WOW_News_template_Trinity_Hospice_1Clapham-based hospice, Trinity, recently got in touch to see if we’d like to make the short trip down the road to help fundraise and entertain the children at their annual garden party. We were more than happy to go down for this fantastic cause so we packed our goodies and went on down to make this event better than ever!

Luckily for us the weather was scorching and people came to the hospice in their hundreds to enjoy the live music, hog roast and fun stalls dotted around the beautiful gardens. We pitched our tables and toys in the middle of the lawn so children and parents alike could get involved in the WOW magic. Needless to say, as the doors opened our area was soon one of the most popular spots and it was full of satisfied visitors throughout the day.

We had a classic ‘guess the WOW figures in the fish bowl’ competition where the 6 closest guesses got to take home their very own WOW Toys play table worth £64.99!

WOW_News_template_Trinity_2All in all, it was a lovely day down in Clapham and we had lots of fun showing local Londoners the wonders of WOW.

Click here to see Trinity Hospice’s website where you can see all the wonderful work they do to raise money for this fantastic cause.

Meet Ritter Felsenstarks Drachenabenteuer, Basti Bagger and Moritz Mondmobil!

Meet Ritter Felsenstarks Drachenabenteuer, Basti Bagger and Moritz Mandmobil, more commonly know as George’s Dragon Tale, Dexter the Digger and Lunar Lenny!

The whole WOW range will be heading over to Amazon Germany in the Summer and we thought it a great idea to get the whole range translated so they fit in with their new toy friends over in mainland Europe.

Wolfestone Translation recently carried out the work and they even went through and translated all of the toy profiles to match! We were extremely happy with the work they carried out and we hope toys such as Karlas Königliche Kutschenfahrt and Gustav Geländewagen will fit in well with their new German friends.

We were very impressed with Wolfestone’s services and we have built a strong relationship which we hope to build upon in future years.

We were also pleased to see that we’re not the only company who carry out charity work with local charities. “Team Wolfestone” have signed up for the Cardiff half marathon and are committed to fundraising for Morriston Hospital in Swansea.

Thanks again for the translation work and good luck in your funsraising efforts!

Toy Tower stands tall after WOW’s charity donation

WOW_News_template_Shooting_StarsAfter successfully completing the Madrid Marathon in a modest time of 4 hours, 16 minutes, Matt went down to Shooting Stars CHASE in Hampton to donate the £330 worth of toys as promised by WOW. Matt received donations from friends, family, colleagues and even anonymous donations after posting on WOW’s social media sites.

The hospice welcomed the new toys with open arms, especially as this month is ‘vehicle month’! They said the children would love the toys and parents would certainly welcome the ‘no batteries’ message and WOW’s durable quality.

We will continue to work closely with Shooting Stars CHASE as a company and individuals in future months.

WOW employee is all set to run the 2012 Madrid Marathon!

WOW_News_template_Madrid_MarathonOne of WOW’s awesome team is going to be running the 2012 Madrid Marathon! After a failed attempt at registering for the London Marathon, Matt has decided to brave the scorching temperatures and fly out to Madrid to complete his first ever 26 miles. And best of all, WOW is helping his sponsorship campaign by donating toys of whatever value Matt is able to raise for children’s charity, Shooting Star CHASE.

WOW work with Shooting Star CHASE throughout the year and this is a classic example of how WOW love to help this great cause. Matt’s target is £200, but with some help from friends, family, colleagues and our loyal online fanbase we aim to smash this and raise as much money, and toys as possible for Shooting Star CHASE. With only a month to go until the big day, it’s non-stop running from now on! We’ve even started a weekly running club in the office to raise up the momentum and get Matt around the 26 Madrid miles!

Click here to check out Matt’s online sponsorship page – if you’re feeling generous why not chip in a little bit for this fab cause, and remember, WOW will match whatever you donate in toys too :)

WOW sets example to the business world with ‘fun-filled’ HQ!

WOW_News_template_NadBuddyLots has been said lately in the business world about the workplace and the importance of the culture and feel of the office. Many companies have tried revolutionising the way in which we work by creating quirky offices so that we feel comfortable in our surroundings. WOW is an example of one of these quirky companies which truly values its staff and does what it can to promote a comforting and peaceful work space to maximise job satisfaction and productivity.

Chris Maxwell from ‘Director’ magazine recently came into WOW HQ to interview WOW MD, Nadim Ednan-Laperouse to see why he feels it’s so important to make the most of the office space. The photo above, by Gary Moyes, shows where Nad works on a day to day basis (although Buddy the dog is normally in his bed or running around the office, not sitting up on the desk). With toys scattered around the office, music playing, a Cockapoo entertaining staff and most importantly, a large open plan space promoting interaction and communication between each department, WOW truly is a unique place to work, enjoyed by all staff.

With all of these appearances, people will be asking for the little ones’ autographs soon!

January looks like a busy month for all at WOW with trade shows hitting the UK and further afield. The first of which is the annual Toyfair, held in the Olympia Exhibition Centre, Hammersmith. It may be just a short way down the road for us here at WOW HQ, but that doesn’t mean we haven’t had to work tirelessly to make sure everything is in place and ready for the three day event. We’ve packed up all of our cool new toys, the existing intrepid collection and a whole lot of WOW love for the occasion!

The whole toy world will be at Olympia and we are definitely not going to disappoint with our awesome new products and timeless features of the existing range. Nad will be leading the team over on stand G15 amongst all of the major brands, but we intend to stand out with our quirky character and great reputation emitting a real sense of positivity and uniqueness around the WOW area.

The team will be heading to Nuremburg for the biggest toy trade show on the planet late January for a weeks’ worth of showcasing what we think are the best toys in the world! We’ll then be off to Birmingham and New York for upcoming fairs. It’s busy, busy, busy here at WOW HQ, or should we say anywhere but WOW HQ at the moment!

WOW team visit The London Aquarium for some toy inspiration!

Product development is an essential aspect of any toy company and it’s no different for WOW. But before we can start designing and developing the toys, we need to get ideas! This is where The London Aquarium comes into it. The design team went down to get some inspiration from the sea life at The London Aquarium for future product ranges. We often venture out of the office to get in the right state of mind to come up with ideas for new toys and this day at the aquarium was particularly useful.

With the vast array of sea life of all different shapes and sizes showing off all of their wonderful colours, the designers were in their element sketching and thinking of new ideas for our growing collection. A great day all in all out of the office, but now it’s down to business as we make our ideas come to life in the coming months :)

Our four newest toys have touched down in WOW Town and will be online or in a store near you soon!

The much anticipated Cupcake Chloe, Farm Buddy Benny, Ryan’s Road Trip and Whiz-Around Amy have all now joined WOW Town and will be available soon. Both the boys and girls’ toys ranges have increased with the new arrivals which cover the farm, holiday and adventure and town ranges.

These exciting new arrivals will be sure to appeal to little tots the world over with their cute designs, fab features and no batteries promise, which we feel is what parents really do want! Cute, durable and no nasty batteries!

WOW Corner continues to impress the whole family at The Brighton Baby Expo!

It was an early start for some of the WOW team as we set up and drove down to Brighton for the annual Brighton Baby Expo held in the new AMEX Arena.

The star of BBC’s Mister Maker arts and crafts programme was in town to give his expert opinion on all things from toys to teddy bears and he couldn’t get enough of our cute little toys. Seen here with WOW  MD, Nadim Ednan-Laperouse, he explained how he was very impressed with the British designs and the exciting features!

Mums, dads, grandmas, grandads and tots came down in their thousands to explore the exciting products on show at this fab event. We set up in a large corner displaying a huge selection of our range on our giant play mat! The little ones soon saw the bright colours and fun features of the WOW collection and flocked to play with the likes of Ronnie Rocket and Flip ‘n’ Tip Fred whilst mums and dads were given all the information about our fantabulous brand!

Those that had heard of us before were able to let other interested parents know the benefits of our growing company, and although we weren’t selling directly on the day, we were able to recommend the best retailers, both local and national, for new WOW fans to visit.

All in all, we very much enjoyed our day down in Brighton and are very much looking forward to next year’s event! We just love to go and show off our toys at events like this, so if you’re ever at a baby and toddler show such as this one, you may just see us there!

Finally, we would like to say a big thank you to the event organisers and all the lovely people we met on the day! We hope you all have a very happy Christmas!

With 100s of exhibitions showing off the latest in the baby and early year’s markets, there will be something for everyone in this huge new arena. And only a stone’s throw away from London!

The WOW team will be down as we have been in recent years showing the great British public our sturdy and cute toys!

18 month – 5 year old tots won’t believe their luck as they pop on down to the WOW section with a giant play mat and huge selection of toys spread out for all to enjoy! Parents can relax whilst the kids get stuck in to play time and we’ll be on hand to give all information needed about all things WOW.

Eddie Catz and WOW Toys’ play centre opening soon!

WOW Toys and Eddie Catz are working together to bring fun and enjoyment to children in the Putney area! We have created our very first children’s play which includes a large selection of our fab toys for children to enjoy!

‘Eddie Catz is more than just a play centre!’ Established in Putney in 2005, Eddie Catz has since opened two more centres in Newbury and Wimbledon and there are ideas for more in the future! Eddie Catz’s aim is to provide ‘a place where children can have an enriching experience by playing and learning in a safe and clean environment whilst a parent can have some respite in the form of a grown-up space to chill out, read the newspaper, surf the net, have a meal or join a class with their child’, and we here at WOW Toys are helping Eddie Catz create this experience for children and parents alike. Our new play centre, due to open in October 2011, has been created to bring the best experience possible for Eddie Catz kids! With toys galore and safe and comfortable cushioning, the new play area is not only full of fun, but is designed to make that play experience safe for all tots!

Opening by October half term, be sure to come on down and enjoy WOW Toys and Eddie Catz with your little ones! :)

Teddy Bear’s Picnic – We battled through the rain to bring a fun-filled event for all!

WOW_News_template_475_teddy bears picnic

Maggies, the cancer charity held a fab Teddy Bear’s Picnic in Bishop’s Park, London! We were very happy to go along and join in the fun with our toys and play tables. The day was going swimmingly well, until, you guessed, it rained! Not only did it rain, it poured!

However, WOW spirits were high, as they usually are, and we battled through the elements to show just how dedicated we are to bring fun and enjoyment to tots all over!

The day included a bouncy castle, a soft play area, Fulham football shooting goal and a cupcake decoration area amongst lots of other cool things! The WOW tables were played with throughout the day and parents were encouraged to know all the toys were designed around the corner and were so sturdy and reliable!

All in all, a great success over at Bishop’s Park helping ‘Maggie’s’! :)

Lollibop festival – WOW Toys stands out in festival full of fun!

WOW_News_template_475_lollibop first image

“The big bash for little people” certainly wasn’t a disappointment for little ones or their parents on what turned out to be a lovely sunny weekend in Regent’s Park, (with the exception of a classic English downpour on the final day of course)!

We here at WOW pitched our WOW tent up alongside Bob The Builder in the little tot’s section and we were ready with our fab toys, balloons, stickers, bean bags, play tables and even free handouts of our popular best buddies!

Come 10.00 a.m on Friday the gates opened and families flocked into the arena to see the likes of Rastamouse and The ZingZillas! WOW were poised in the little tot’s section with our toys at hand ready to continue the Lollibop fun for the rest of the day and the coming weekend!

Mums, Dads, Grandmas and Grandads came to the tent with their little ones not quite knowing what to expect, but after a few minutes playing with the toys realised the quality and cuteness of our collection! The tent was consistently full to the brim with happy children keeping entertained with the likes of Harvey Harvester and Harry Copter amongst others!

Once playtime started it was difficult to keep the kids away and many loved the WOW tent so much they didn’t want to leave!

At one point we feared that mums and dads were only seeing the WOW tent and that all of the other fun things at Lollibop were not being seen and enjoyed by their little ones!

All in all, a great success for all that came to Lollibop and the WOW Toys’ tent!

A big thank you to everyone who came and a special congratulations to our comeptition winner, Emma Brennan, who won tickets courtesy of our July competition! :)

Around 2,000 families turned up; a record-breaking day for Fontwell Park who had never had to open another car park for a non horse race event! The queues were endless at the registration area to pick up a free WOW special edition car. The WOW play mat was a firm favourite and was never empty with an enormous amount of visitors on the day.
